The British Judo Trust aims to generate and deploy additional resources so that judo in this country can thrive at grassroots and community level, alongside the performance pathway.
Established in 2007, the Trust was set up in recognition that the development of judo requires both passion and investment. From supporting clubs through equipment grants to enabling new participation programmes, we have sought to widen the reach of the sport across the UK.

Widening Participation – opening the doors of judo to more people.
British Judo Association
Developing People – helping individuals realise their potential through judo.
British Judo Association
Facility Development – enhancing the physical infrastructure that enables judo to thrive.
We work in partnership with clubs, coaches, regional bodies and community organisations. Applicants (clubs/organisations or individuals) can apply for funding – organisations can apply for up to £5,000, individuals up to £1,000.
We assess applications on criteria including impact, sustainability, reach and alignment with our pillars.
Inclusion: We believe judo should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background or ability.
Excellence: We strive for high standards in delivery, governance and safeguarding.
Respect & Community: Judo thrives when people treat each other with respect, humility and support.
Sustainability: Ensuring initiatives we support can continue and grow beyond initial grant funding.
